II. OTHER INFORMATIONS

1. Arrival:

The VIASM will pick you up at the airport in Hanoi. Thus, after arriving and getting out the Customer’s checking, please look for the board with your name in there.

In case you change or miss your flight and/or you cannot find us, please hire a Taxi to your hotel. You should choose one of the following taxies with fixed price shown at taxi-platform at the airport. The cost is 18 – 20 US$ (380, 000 – 400, 000 VND) from the airport to the downtown (independently which hotel you will go to):

a)    Airport Taxi

b)    Noi Bai airport

c)    Mai Linh Taxi

If there is no traffic jam, it takes less than one hour to reach downtown.

2. Weather:

It may be cold from December to February. Although the average temperature is from 10 to 200C, it looks like zero degree in Europe. It can have small rain sometimes.

3. Currency:

Vietnamese currency is Dong (VND), 1US$ » 21,500 VND and 1EUR » 29,000 VND.

You can pay in US dollars or Euros in Vietnam. The widely accepted credit cards in Vietnam are Visa, Master card and American Express.

You can exchange from USD or EUR to VND at the airport or at any bank in the city. However, in general, you cannot exchange from VND back to foreign currency in a bank. Thus, please only exchange an amount enough for your stay duration.

4. Meal:

Meal-cost in Vietnam may vary from 30.000 VND to 300.000 VND.

5. Travel inside the city:

5.1. Walking

City transportation is very bad in Vietnam, especially in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Remember the unofficial rules: Never run, never (go) back, slowly ahead, and stop if you’ll feel not safe.

5.2. Taxi

Fees of meter taxi are 12 000 – 18 000 VND/km (depending of car quality). Most of taxies are safe. Very rarely, but sometimes you could get a faked taxi or a bad driver who will ask you to pay too much. In this case, do not pay that huge amount. We recommend the following taxies’ phone numbers:

a)    Mai Linh Taxi: (84 – 4)  38.616.161 – (84 – 4) 38.333.333

b)    Taxi Group (84 – 4) 38535353 – (84 – 4) 38262626

These taxies have Global Position System (GPS). If you have any trouble (forgetting your things in the car…), please remember the taxi number and call the above phone numbers, they will help you. However other taxies could be cheaper and also safe.
