Modeling of Dengue Fever in a Spatial Environment

In this talk, we will present an agent-based model of Aedes aegypti female mosquito-vector of dengue. This behavioural model is spatially explicit, mosquitoes interact with each other and with their environment. The avatar mosquito lives in this artificial environment, going from one stage to another {egg → larvae → pupae → adult}, adapting its behaviours (fly, take a meal, rest and oviposit) to its needs and the availability of its target resources in its surrounding environment. Aim of this talk is to present in details the model using a well-established protocol for description of simulation model.
Parameterization, calibration and validation of agent-based models are very important while these models are not toy-models and will be used to application purposes. We will also discuss on some interesting results regarding the distance flight of mosquitoes’ cohort when they are located in different parts of the studied area.
