Mini-course: Advanced Topics in Algebra and Topology

Venue/Location: Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM), 161 Chua Lang Street, Lang Ward, Hanoi.

This minicourse introduces two cornerstone frameworks of modern homotopy theory and algebraic geometry. Amnon Neeman's lectures develop the theory of triangulated categories and t-structures, culminating in the existence theorem for compactly generated t-structures on derived categories of schemes. Greg Arone's lectures develop the calculus of functors from its ∞-categorical foundations through key examples (the identity functor, algebraic K-theory) and classification results, concluding with recent work on functors from free groups to abelian groups.
