Mini-course: Introduction to Lattice-based cryptography

Lecturer: Prof. Alfred Menezes, University of Waterloo, Canada.

Prerequisites: The course is aimed to be accessible to beginning graduate students as well as strong senior undergraduate students. Attendees are expected to know the basics of cryptography, linear algebra, modular arithmetic, and have some familiarity with algorithm analysis. All other background will be provided, including polynomial rings and the mathematics of lattices.

  • The Learning With Errors (LWE) problem
  • The Module Learning With Errors (MLWE) problem
  • The Kyber key encapsulation mechanism
  • Introduction to lattices
  • LWE and MLWE as lattice problems
  • The LLL lattice basis reduction algorithm
  • [time permitting] The Number-Theoretic Transform (NTT)
