Mini-Course: Selected Topics in Random Discrete Models

Time:

Venue/Location: Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) 161 Huynh Thuc Khang Street, Lang Ward, Hanoi

Objective

This mini-course provides an introduction to random discrete structures, with a primary focus on random graphs. We begin with the historical development and motivation behind the fundamental models, together with several classical properties and phenomena. The course will then explore a number of selected topics that currently attract significant attention in the field, highlighting their connections to related areas such as random processes and percolation theory, as well as their broader applications. Finally, several open problems and research directions will be discussed, with the aim of inspiring young researchers and students to further explore this fascinating area of modern mathematics.
