VIASM Summer School “Research Experience for Undergraduates” 2026

1. Objective
Summer school “Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU)” is now in its third year! Since its launch in 2023, REU has grown into a highly anticipated annual program, drawing strong interest from students and achieving remarkable success in recent years.
REU 2026 is organized with more specific content, focusing on fundamental areas of mathematics such as Geometry, Algebra, Number Theory, Topology, Analysis, PDE, Probability, Artificial Intelligence, Combinatorics, and Optimization.
During the school, students will engage in research on a new problem or study and synthesize a significant recent result under the mentorship of a faculty advisor. They will also collaboratively explore novel aspects of existing problems. Through this process, students are gradually introduced to professional mathematical research and will have opportunities to present their findings. This experience aims to fundamentally transform their approach to learning mathematics and to equip them with the foundational skills necessary for pursuing academic research in the future.
2. Expected participants: Eligible Participants: Undergraduate students enrolled in academic programs within the field of Mathematical Sciences nationwide.
Selection Criteria:
The Scientific Committee will select participants based on the following materials:
- A personal Curriculum Vitae (CV) detailing past academic and extracurricular activities as well as future academic plans;
- An official academic transcript up to the time of application submission;
- A letter of recommendation from a scientist or academic (if available).
Requirements for Participants:
- Students must have a solid understanding of fundamental concepts in Linear Algebra, Calculus, and/or Abstract Algebra;
- Full participation in all activities of the Summer School is required;
- Students are expected to be fully engaged throughout the entire duration of the Summer School, and to follow the instructors' guidance diligently in order to achieve the best possible outcomes.
