Mini course Topics in turbulence models and kinetic theory

Time:08:00:19/05/2025 to 17:00:20/05/2025
Venue/Location: Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM), Hanoi
Organizing Committee:
- Lê Minh Hà (VIASM)
- Nguyễn Đình Dương (VIASM)
Objective or Description of the Scientific Content
The aim of this mini-course is as follows: Firstly, it will explain how to derive from the Navier-Stokes (NS) equations a turbulence model, which will be called as the Navier-Stokes turbulence kinetic energy (NSTKE) system, that couples the mean velocity, the mean pressure and the turbulence kinetic energy. Secondly, it provides some mathematical tools to carry out the mathematical analysis of the NSTKE model in which some recent results regarding the existence of weak solutions to NSTKE will be presented. Thirdly, it gives a quick overview on various mathematical models for plasma processes and especially explores some fundamental properties of the Vlasov equations.
