L'vovsky estimate on Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of rational curves

Abstract: In this talk, I will present a result of L'vovksy bounding the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of a rational curve in terms of the syzygies of the forms defining the corresponding map. The proof that I will present rely on bounds for the torsion of the symmetric algebra, following Jouanolou, and an argument from the work of Gruson, Lazarsfeld and Peskine on the regularity of curves, stated in a ring theoretic version.
