Mathematics for Humanity - A virtual introduction

Time: 15:00 to  17:00 Ngày 03/03/2023

Venue/Location: Virtual seminar

Speaker:  Mingyong Kim, Director of the The International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS), UK.

The International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS) will host a new project entitled 'Mathematics for Humanity', which will be devoted to education, research, and scholarly exchange having direct relevance to the ways in which mathematics, broadly construed, can contribute to the betterment of humanity.

The activities of the program will revolve around three interrelated themes:

      A. Integrating the global research community (GRC)

      B. Mathematical challenges for humanity (MCH)

      C. Global history of mathematics (GHM)

We would be very happy to receive proposals in many directions with new ideas from mathematical scientists working in SE Asia. Theme B on 'mathematical challenges to humanity' may be of special relevance in view of the urgency of the climate crisis affecting the region. However, proposals on any of the themes would be welcome.

This is the webpage with the call for proposals:

The Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM), a collaborating institution in this new exciting project, together with the ICMS invite all scientists, students and interested participants in Southeast Asia to attend a virtual meeting with the ICMS Director, Prof. Mingyong Kim about the project and possibilities to collaborate.
