Summer school on Mixed Model Prediction

Time:09:00:22/08/2019 to  17:00:23/08/2019

Venue/Location: C2-714, VIASM

Organizing Committee: Le Minh Ha (VIASM), Thuan Nguyen (OHSU), Nguyen Ky Nam (VIASM).

Scientific Committee: Thuan Nguyen (OHSU), Jiming Jiang (UCDAVIS), Ngo Hoang Long (HNUE).

Host institution: VIASM.

Objective or Description of the Scientific Content:

Mixed model prediction (MMP) has a fairly long history starting with Henderson's early work in animal breeding (Henderson 1948). The field has since flourished, thanks to its broad applications in various fields. The traditional fields of applications include genetics, agriculture, education, and surveys. This is a field where frequentist and Bayesian approaches found common grounds. Nowadays, new and challenging problems have emerged from such fields as business and health sciences, in addition to the traditional fields, to which methods of MMP are potentially applicable. This short course provides an overview of the basic elements of MMP as well as some of its modern developments. Below is the table of contents.

 Day 1:

  1. Introduction
  2. Linear Mixed Models
  3. Generalized Linear Mixed Models

Day 2:

  1. Linear Mixed Model Prediction
  2. Generalized Linear Mixed Model Prediction
  3. Applications
