The 2nd Workshop on Combinatorics and Coding Theory
Time:
Venue/Location: Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) 161 Huynh Thuc Khang Street, Hanoi
Objective:
This workshop aims to bring together researchers, practitioners, and students working in the areas of combinatorics and coding theory, two closely related fields with deep theoretical foundations and wide-ranging applications. Combinatorial structures play a central role in the design and analysis of error-correcting codes, while problems arising in coding theory often inspire new directions in combinatorial research. In recent years, coding-theoretic techniques have also found important applications in emerging areas such as blockchain and distributed ledger technologies, including data availability, storage efficiency, fault tolerance, and security. The workshop provides a forum for exchanging recent advances, sharing new ideas, and fostering collaboration among experts from mathematics, computer science, and engineering.
The primary objective of the workshop is to promote interaction between different subcommunities, including combinatorial design theory, extremal and probabilistic combinatorics, algebraic and graph-theoretic methods, and classical and modern coding theory. Special emphasis is placed on bridging theory and applications, as well as encouraging participation by early-career researchers and graduate students.
The program will consist of invited keynote lectures and contributed talks covering a broad range of topics such as error-correcting codes, group testing, combinatorial designs, Gray codes, graph theory, and algorithmic aspects of coding theory, with particular attention to applications in blockchain systems and related distributed architectures. Through these activities, the conference seeks to stimulate fruitful discussions and inspire future research directions in combinatorics and coding theory
