 The Hurwitz space $\mathcal H_{g,d}$ is the space whose points correspond to maps $C \to \mathbb P^1$ of degree $d$  from curves $C$ of genus $g$. In the talk I will report on our knowledge, what we know about the unirationality of these spaces and will explaining the unirationality proofs in some extremal cases.
