Announcement: Call for Proposals 2025
The Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) invites research groups and individuals to apply for short-term research visits in 2025 (from 2 up to 12 months).
Candidates can be either groups or individuals in any branch of mathematics and the mathematical sciences (including computational sciences, statistical sciences, theoretical computer sciences, cryptography…)
1. Research groups
Priority will be given to mixed research groups, consisting of international and Vietnamese researchers, although applications from outstanding individual researchers will also be considered. Female applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
The VIASM Scientific Council will appoint candidates in the following categories: Distinguished Professor, Research Professor, Senior Researcher, Junior Researcher, and Research Assistant.
2. Postdoctoral fellows
The VIASM will award up to 5 one-year postdoctoral fellowships (with a possible renewal of another year). These positions are intended for early-career researchers up to 5 years post-Ph.D (after January 01, 2019).
Documents to be submitted:
- A curriculum vitae and research proposal (to be submitted online using the application system);
- At most 2 reference letters (in English, to be sent directly by the senders)
- An e-copy of the doctoral certificate, full doctoral thesis, and the thesis defense committee’s comment (if available).
Reference letters and thesis documents should be sent directly to the email address application@viasm.edu.vn with the subject title: "VIASM2025-Applicant's Name". All documents must be sent prior to the deadline.
3. How to apply
Applications must be submitted online at the VIASM application system: rms.viasm.edu.vn (please read the RMS user guide here).
At first, the Principal Investigator set up an account (if he/she is a new user), create a new proposal and subsequently invite other researchers to join his/her research group. After receiving an invitation email, members of the group will then be given access to the system and proceed to submit the required information.
Researchers who already have an account on the VIASM RMS system should update their curriculum vitae and other information (permanent institutions, publications, etc.)
4. Deadline
Application Deadline: 31 December 2023, Hanoi time (GMT+7).
Results will be announced by March 31, 2024.
5. Additional Information
Research fellows will receive a research honorarium during their stays (from 2 to up to 12 months, appointed by the VIASM Scientific Council).
Accommodation will also be arranged for visitors from outside Hanoi. Travel support from home institutions will be available upon request.
Additional support will be considered for scientific activities organized by the collaborative research groups. Research groups may also propose to invite other international scientists to VIASM for research collaboration.
Research fellows are expected to stay for at least two months. Research groups are encouraged to invite “guest researcher” for short-term stays. Supports are also available for PhD students.
