The Ceremony of Granting Mathematical Research Awards 2012 and Student Scholarships for the school-year 2012-2013

The Ceremony of Granting Mathematical Research Awards 2012 and Student Scholarships for the school-year 2012-2013 has taken placed at Ta Quang Buu Library Building, Hanoi University of Science and Technology on May 5, 2013. This is the first time the annual event is held in the scheme of the “National Program for the Development of Mathematics until 2020″ (NPDM).


The NPDM was born on August 17, 2010 under Vietnam Prime Minister’s decision No. 1483/QĐ – TTg. The Program aims to:


- develop Vietnam mathematics in terms of research, application and teaching to achieve its full potential and to meet the demands of the country from different areas such as science and technology, education, economics and defense etc.


- make sure the sustainable development trend of Vietnam mathematics.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training (MOET) – Chief Executive of NPDM Tran Quang Quy, General Secretary of the State Council for Professor Titles – Deputy Chief Executive of NPDM Tran Van Nhung attended the Ceremony, among other Executive Board members, the representatives of other departments of MOET, mathematicians as well as the representatives and students from universities and high schools all over Vietnam. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and Minister of MOET Pham Vu Luan also send their congratulations to the awarded authors and students.

This time 37 publications (out of 81 applications) are selected for Mathematical Research Award 2012. Each Award worths 26.250 millions VND.

Representatives of universities and students granted scholarships for the school-year 2012-2013.

The Executive Board of NPDM also grants scholarships to 155 students (out of 191 nominations) (119 students get full-year scholarships) from 12 universities and 286 high-school students (out of 380 nominations) (272 students get full-year scholarships) from 70 gifted high schools from all over Vietnam. Each scholarship worths 14.7 millions VND full-year (i.e. 7.350 triệu millions VND for a semester).
