SEAMS School - Mathematical Modelling in Biology is taking place at VIASM from March 8th to March 15th, 2017. The school aims to provide basic knowledge of Mathematical Modelling in Biology, and to introduce some problems of the subject which are currently in the field of intensive research. The school is addressed to senior undergraduate students, graduate students, PhD students and researchers who are interested in this topic, especially applicants from Southeast Asia.
The lectures are given by Prof. Hien Tran (North Carolina State University), Prof. Marc Peigne (Université François Rabelais), Prof. Fugo Takasu (Nara Women’s University), Dr. Do Thanh Ha (Hanoi University of Science, VNU-Hanoi) and Dr. Tran Tat Dat (Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences).
The lectures cover a wide range of topics on Mathematical Modeling Techniques for Biological Systems, Branching Processes, Individual-based modeling of population dynamics, mathematical population genetics and Numerical tools for Simulation.
Prof. Tran Van Nhung, Former Deputy Minister of Education and Training, General Secretary of The State Council for Professor Title of Vietnam gave a speech at the opening ceremony to welcome more than 50 participants from Vietnam and other countries, including Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Philippines. Besides, Assoc. Prof. Vu Hoang Linh, Vice Rector of VNU-Hanoi University of Science, Assoc. Prof. Le Minh Ha, Dean of faculty of Mathematics, Mechanics and Informatics and the lecturers attended the opening ceremony.
