VIASM Annual Meeting 2016 took place on Saturday August 27, 2016 at VIASM. This annual event of VIASM is following Bourbaki seminars and this is the fifth in the series (since 2012).

For the series, VIASM often invites highly reputed mathematicians to deliver lectures on central topics of contemporary mathematics. The lecturers provide the audience with most interested problems in their research fields, main ideas and main results.

The lectures are published in a special issue of Acta Mathematica Vietnamica.

Prof. Jochen Heinloth (Duisburg-Essen, Germnay)

This year meeting took place in one day with four lectures. Two lectures in the morning given by professors from University of Oxford, UK (Prof. Sir John Ball and Prof. Luc Nguyen) focused on  nonlinear partial differential equations and applications in material science. The other two lectures in the afternoon by Prof. Jochen Heinloth (Universität Duisburg-Essen, Germany) and Prof. Ngo Bao Chau (University of Chicago, USA and VIASM) focused on Langlands program.
