Mini-workshop “Differential Equations and Applications” took place on October 18, 2013, at Lecture Hall C2 at Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM). The mini-workshop was organized by VIASM and the research group Differential Equations & Dynamical Systems which are working at the Institute.

The aim of this mini-workshop is to bring together members of the mathematical community whose interest lies in applied mathematics to assess some recent developments, ideas and methods. The mini-workshop consists of eight 45-minutes invited lectures given by experts in the field.

The invited lectures focus on some recent aspects and developments in the field of differential equations, including partial differential equations, functional differential equations and algebraic-differential equations, such as inverse problems, stability and stabilization problems, controllability problems, estimation problems, differential variational inequalities and their applications in heat and diffusion processes, fluid mechanics and population dynamics.

The mini-workshop started at 8 am. After the opening speech of Prof. Le Tuan Hoa, the Managing Director of VIASM, there were 08 invited lectures presented at the mini-workshop. In the morning session, 04 invited lectures were given by Prof. Dr. Sci. Dinh Nho Hao (Hanoi Institute of Mathematics), Prof. Dr. Le Quang Nam (Hanoi Institue of Mathematics), Dr. Phan Thanh Nam (Qui Nhon University) and Dr. Do Duc Thuan (Hanoi University of Science and Technology). In the afternoon session, 04 invited lectures were given by Ass. Prof. Dr. Vu Hoang Linh (VNU University of Natural Science), Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Doanh (Hanoi University of Science and Technology), Dr. Tran Dinh Ke (Hanoi National University of Education) and Ass. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thieu Huy (Hanoi University of Science and Technology).

The mini-workshop had more than 60 participants, including professors, scientists, lecturers, PhD students and master students coming from many institutes and universities such as Hanoi Institute of Mathematics, VNU University of Science, Hanoi National University of Education, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi Water Resources University, Hanoi Electric Power University, Vietnam University of Commerce, Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, Qui Nhon University, Tay Bac University, Hong Duc University and other universities and colleges.
