The mini-workshop “Groups, Rings and related topics” has opened on May 29, 2014 at VIASM. This is one of the activities of the research group “Associative rings and algebras” who are working at VIASM. The Workshop lasts in two days.
Prof. Nguyen Tu Cuong (Institute of Mathematics – VAST) is the first mathematician giving an invited talk at the Workshop.
The Workshop attracted bout 40 participants coming from various institutions and cities (Hanoi, Vinh, Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City etc). There are four 45-minute talks and 11 30-minute talks during the two-day workshop, which relate to the group of units of rings (specially, division rings), general linear groups, the structure of non-commutative and commutative Noetherian rings, as well as the influence of idempotents on the structure of rings.
The purpose of this workshop is to create mathematicians exchanging new ideals and results on Algebras and Its Applications, as well as to draw attention of young researchers and students to the subject.
Prof. Le Van Thuyet (Chair of the Workshop and also the chair of the research group at VIASM until the end of June) hope that there will be more events on the field to create more forum for researchers (especially young mathematicians) to discuss and exchange ideas.
