Workshop on Geometric Analysis and Algebra

On the morning of June 16, 2025, at the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM), the Workshop on Geometric Analysis and Algebra was officially opened with the participation of more than 50 delegates from Vietnam and other countries around the world. This is the first occurrence in the series of the annual Korea-Vietnam Workshops on Geometric Analysis (and Algebra).

Workshop participants

In his opening speech, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Minh Ha, Executive Director of VIASM, expressed his hope for building a prestigious annual academic forum, contributing to connecting domestic and foreign mathematicians, attracting more students interested in the research direction of Geometric Analysis, topics on Algebra, and practical applications of this research direction. Associate Professor, Dr. Le Minh Ha also emphasized the promotion of in-depth creative research to create breakthrough results.

The 5-day Workshop program included 26 presentations (5 plenary presentations and 21 invited presentations) by mathematicians from Korea, Japan, India, China, Australia, and Vietnam. The presentations covered many recent cutting-edge results in mean curvature flow theory, qualitative and quantitative results of Ricci flows, geometric partial differential equations, eigenvalue estimates of the Laplace operator, some problems in commutative algebra, and related topics. The Workshop had five plenary presentations from young mathematicians at home and abroad. Among them were two Vietnamese and one of Vietnamese origin. These are young, dynamic and active mathematicians with excellent recent publications. In particular, some have outstanding results in their fields and have been recognized by the mathematics community.

The workshop was organized in collaboration with VIASM and the University of Education, Thai Nguyen University. On June 16 and 17, 2025, the workshop was held at VIASM. From June 18 to 20, 2025, the workshop was held at the University of Education, Thai Nguyen University. Within the framework of the program, delegates had the opportunity to explore the culture of the Thai ethnic group from the Cultural Museum of Vietnam Ethnic Minority Groups and Thai Hai Eco-tourism Area, and experience local tea specialties.

The workshop was a great success, providing participants with the opportunity to exchange and cooperate in the fields of Geometric Analysis, Geometric Partial Differential Equations, and Commutative Algebra. The workshop also opened many new relationships between researchers, students, graduate students, and domestic PhD students with not only Korean mathematicians but also Japanese, Chinese, Indian, and Australian mathematicians.
