On Monday 17 June, 2019, Professor Michael Wolf from the University of Zurich, Switzerland delivered a public lecture at VIASM from 3pm on the topic of portfolio selection in high dimension using shrinkage estimators of covariance matrix of asset returns.

The Workshop on Statistics and Numerical Analysis for Stochastic Processes took place at the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics on April 25, 2019. The workshop includes 2 invited talks from Prof. Mohamed Ben Alaya (Université de Rouen Normandie), and Prof. Ahmed Kebaier (Université of Paris 13), and 6 contributed talks by young Vietnamese researchers.

Between 19th and 21st April 2019, the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics organized the workshop “Algorithmic and combinatorial methods on discrete structure” in Tuan Chau, Ha Long province. The aim of the workshop is to bridge Theory on Algorithms and Discrete Mathematics with applications of solving optimization problems in practice.
