On June 30, 2014, Professor Hyungju Park – Department of Mathematics, Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Director of Center for Applications of Mathematical Principles (CAMP), South Korea National Institute for Mathematical Sciences (NIMS) – visited VIASM.

The Mini-course “Approximations for stochastic and parametric partial differential equations and Bayesian inverse problems” by Dr Hoang Viet Ha (NTU Singapore) has opened on June 19, 2014. This is one event of research group High-dimensional approximation led by Prof. Dinh Dung.
Mini-course: Some topics on Graph Theory
Mini-course “Some topics on Graph Theory” has opened on Wednesday June 18, 2014. The course is given by Prof. Moshe Rosenfeld (University of Washington, USA) which is an activity of the research group Discrete Mathematics. Five two-hour lectures will be given every two days until June 27, 2014.

The mini-workshop “Groups, Rings and related topics” has opened on May 29, 2014 at VIASM. This is one of the activities of the research group “Associative rings and algebras” who are working at VIASM. The Workshop lasts in two days.
Two Vietnamese scientists won the 2013 Ta Quang Buu Award
Professor Nguyen Huu Viet Hung and Associate Professor Nguyen Ba An received the 2013 Ta Quang Buu Award at a ceremony in Hanoi on May 17. This is the first time the Ministry of Science and Technology has presented the prize, named after famous Vietnamese scientist Professor Ta Quang Buu (1910-1986), to outstanding scientists in the fundamental studies of natural sciences.

This year, the “National Program for the Development of Mathematics until 2020” (NPDM) has continued awarding Vietnamese mathematical publications and granting scholarship for college and high school students specializing in mathematics.
