Objectives
The UK–Viet Nam Research Collaboration Workshop provides an interdisciplinary forum for researchers from both countries to explore mathematical approaches to complex environmental and climate-related challenges. The workshop brings together expertise in mathematical modelling, dynamical systems, stochastic processes, uncertainty quantification, optimization, computational mathematics, and data-driven methods to develop rigorous approaches for understanding, predicting, and managing environmental systems under uncertainty.
The workshop focuses on environmental systems characterized by nonlinearity, spatial and temporal heterogeneity, uncertainty, and interactions between natural and human systems. Particular attention will be given to climate and environmental dynamics, stochastic risk, spatial processes, coupled human–environment systems, optimization and control, and the integration of mathematical models with observations, sensing, and computational methods.
A central goal is to bridge mathematical theory and practical environmental applications. Researchers will explore how models can be formulated, calibrated, validated, and used to analyze environmental risks and evaluate alternative interventions for climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, environmental sustainability, and resilient development in Viet Nam and the broader region.
