Prof. Olivier Lafitte, Université Sorbonne Paris Nord (Paris 13), France
After the 2nd Prize of the French Mathematical Concours Général, in 1982, O. Lafitte was awarded a Bronze medal at the International Olympiads in 1983. He studied at Ecole Polytechnique in Palaiseau (1984-1987), was awarded his Master’s degree at Orsay University (1989) while studying at the Ecole des Mines de Paris (1987-1990). He received his PhD at Paris Saclay University in 1992.
His first position was in a laboratory of the French atomic Energy Commission (1990-2001) where he was a research Engineer. While in this laboratory, he was at the same time a postdoctoral fellow and lecturer at MIT (1993-1994) with a funding of the French Ministry of Defense. He was appointed Full Professor at the Université Sorbonne Paris Nord in 2001, and held two temporary positions of invited professor in TUM (Garching bei Munchen), 2014 and at Indiana University (Bloomington), 2017.
He was appointed as Director of the International Research Lab of CNRS at Université de Montréal in 2019. He is currently Full Distinguished Professor at University Sorbonne Paris Nord and the Director of the CNRS laboratory at Montréal.
